Happy Birthday, Jennifer!

Today is our daughter in law's birthday. I don't like saying "in law", as far as Greg and I are concerned, she is a daughter to us and just one of the kids. We love you, Jennifer. I hope you had a great day. Tell Josh to take you out tonight, you deserve it.
I made all the kids Halloween shirts this year. I cheated, I found a panel for a banner at Hobby Lobby and then just cut the pumpkins out of it. I know, lazy way to applique, but I was rushed. Here are two of them.

My picture taking has got to get better. What's with that shadow across Triniti's face?

Now for my first entry into the Hall of Shame. I've seen lots of things in Blog land made out of 2x4's. I didn't have a 2x4, but I did have a 1x2. So I cut, sanded, mod podged, distressed and came up with this:

I love it, but my family has given me grief over it. I still like it and next year it will be back up on the fireplace next to the ghost tree.

Have a spooky tomorrow.

More Sound of Music

I watched Oprah yesterday and just sat and cried. The Sound of Music is my all time favorite movie. I remember 45 years ago when Daddy drove Mom and I downtown to see it for the first time. The funny thing is, I remember him dropping us off and then picking us up again. He didn't stay. I told Greg that last night and he said he always knew my dad was a very smart man. Here's where I'm going with this story, it's the 45 year anniversary so they are releasing it again on Blue Ray! If any of my children just happen to read this, you might keep in mind that Christmas is just around the corner. I'm just saying, out on Blue Ray, Christmas time, Mom's favorite movie of all time. Need I go on?

More Okra!

Remember this:

Jordyn and Jace were over here Saturday night and look what we made!

Ghost okra necklaces! I still have more so I need to finish them up before Sunday. Yes, everyone in the Weems family will be sporting one of those little treasures. They don't know it yet, but they will.

While I had Jordyn here, she modeled the hair pretty for me and guess what? She didn't even need to be bribed.

I know you'll be as excited as I am about this when I tell you. On Oprah today is the whole original cast of the Sound of Music. I KNOW! Life doesn't get much better than this! The hills are alive.....

Dear Greg,

I'm sorry I was so grumpy when you got up today. This technical stuff is killing me and I took it out on you. It's not your fault I can't get the flash to work on the camera and it says "Birthday" on the pictures. Thank you for fixing it and the pictures for Etsy turned out awesome!

There's only 5 days until Halloween, so I better post about that from now until then. When I was looking for an old frame for the lobster picture I found one that reminded me of spider webs for some reason. I don't know why, it just did. Then I found straw paper at Hobby Lobby when I was buying the sand paper (for the lobster picture), went to the Dollar Store and bought a foam pumpkin to cut it half.

That's fabric I had leftover from something and the pumpkin cut in half. By the way, it's not easy cutting a styrafoam pumpkin in half with a kitchen knife. Since cutting a tip of my finger off with a rotary cutter one night when nobody was here, I'm a little uneasy about bringing the "big guns" out when I'm home alone. Here's what I ended up with:

Josh called today and Jace (the little prince) wants to be a S.W.A.T. team guy for Halloween. He's bringing by a black shirt tonight for me to put SWAT on it. Yes, I will be all over the internet tonight looking for other SWAT things to make. Wish me luck!

Hair Pretties.

I know every crafter out there in blog land has done a post (or more) on fabric flowers. I'm jumping into the pool. The littlest princess in our family, Tierni, has some hair issues. Her mommy can do her hair so pretty and 10 minutes later, you would never know. I thought, okay, I'll make headbands for the girls and maybe she would keep it in. She wore it like Rambo, so that didn't work! Sure wish I had taken a picture of that! A 2 year old with a Care Bear headband like Rambo - priceless! So I did a fabric flower on a clippie.

I know, the picture is terrible (so are the rest, I need to learn how to work the camera).

Okay, hair pretty done. Now find a model. Tierni was tired and watching Dora.

I did what any grandma would do, I bribed her with a popsicle!

She actually left it in for awhile. Okay, I lied, she left it in until she got her popsicle. Off to make more.

See you tomorrow.

That's it, I'm done.

I've been up since 5:00 this morning trying to figure out how to get pictures from Photobucket to load on Etsy. I thought I had figured it out by changing my photos to 1000 pixels (whatever that is) and then it still wouldn't load. I just went to check my blog, and guess what? I screwed up my last photos here! If I knew how to change it back, I would. Please bear with me. I have decided something though, forget Etsy and just keep blogging! I know how to post photos here and Google is my friend!

Happy Birthday, Jalynn!

Today is our granddaughter, Jalynn's 12th birthday. She has blossomed into a beautiful young lady and still as sweet as ever. Happy Birthday, sweetheart. Papa and I love and adore you! See you tonight.

Halloween Okra

We have the nicest friend who works for Greg that shared his garden with us this year. We love fried okra and he had a bumper crop (along with all the other goodies). Thank you, Larry! When Fall hit and the okra was still going crazy and getting huge, I told Greg to tell him not to throw it out, I want it. I mean, who wouldn't paint it and make ghosts? I had to dry it out (which took forever in the oven!), there has to be an easier way. I dried it out, painted it white, put on some eyes and found a limb in our backyard.

Yes, I know the picture is bad. I'm still working on that, too.

Now I just posted 2 of the same pictures. Oh well, you get the idea. This whole blogging thing has got to get easier!

Just because I always tell everything I know, now I can't figure out how to get the pictures off of my phone! Greg, where are you?

See you tomorrow.

You ask, what can you do with lobster tails?

Well, after you have finished eating them, you boil them again, dry them out and this is what you get:

lovely, huh? Don't give up on me yet, stay with me. You then find a frame, paint and distress it. Go to Hobby Lobby (oh please, not that again!), buy some nice sand scrapbooking paper, print on it and then our little guy turned into this!

I know, aren't Jace and Triniti precious!!! They are cousins and just happen to be 2 of my grandchildren. Could they be any cuter? Look at them holding hands....ahhhhh.

Have a great week! Talk to you tomorrow.

I was so proud of myself...

and then I realized I don't have a memory card in my phone for the camera. I took pictures today of the okra ghosts and the frame and picture I did with the lobster tails that I had finished. When I went to try to figure out where the memory card was, I found out there wasn't one and it's anyones guess where it could be. I might have even thrown it out when I got my new phone. I'll never admit that, though. Bear with me, I just learned how decided to start texting. I called Greg at work, and he did his best to be patient with me but I could tell he wasn't as upset as I was. Don't worry, he's off tomorrow and he will be (won't you honey?).

Just another little project we have going on is I decided one day to rip all the carpet off of our stairs that go up to the dormer. Oops...I've got it all off and a million staples out of the floor, but where do I go from here? I think I have an idea because Greg brought me home an electric sander. When I get my memory card tomorrow, I'll be sure to post the before pictures.

Day 2...

Okay, it's not really day 2, it's 5 days later, but it's still day 2 for me typing something. So far in my own little blog land I'm still trying to figure all this out! I decided my first priority was to figure out how to get pictures on here and I'm working on that. I still get sidetracked by the blog button, but first is pictures! I've been busy doing lots of stuff I want to show you. Just to keep your interest, it involves drying okra and lobster tails! Now have I peeked your interest?

On a personal note, I made a resolution tonight and I feel so much better. You can't change the decisions one of your children make when they are grown up. It may be wrong, but you just have to accept it and go on with your life. Why sit around and cry about it? You can't change it, so guess what? You go dry some more okra and keep crafting!

Look Greg, I'm here!!!

I finally started a blog! Now what do I do with it and how am I going to learn all this? Will you please be my first follower? Love you!
